About Us
Little Musicmaker is committed to providing quality music
education to children ages newborn to twelve years.
Our goal is to provide an
environment that encourages children to freely express themselves
through music. Every class is a hands-on music making
experience that introduces babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to
the joys and benefits of music making.
Upon completing a series of
Little Musicmaker classes, a child acquires the following:
-
Basic knowledge of music
theory (reading music!)
-
Ability to find their
singing voice
-
Ability to keep a steady
beat
-
Discovering the smile
that music making brings to your face every day
-
Learning to express
feelings and ideas in a non-judgmental environment
-
Realizing the power of
music to unite people of all ages, races and cultural
backgrounds

Jennea Potter
Founder and
Director
|
|
Music was an integral part of Jennea Potter's upbringing,
and some of her best childhood memories are those of family
gatherings with everyone playing an instrument and singing
their favorite songs. These experiences inspired her to
begin studying piano and music theory at the age of five.
Throughout her twelve years of piano training, she won
several medals for Texas Music Teachers Association State
Theory exams, National Piano Guild adjudications, Piano Solo
Competitions, Beethoven contests, Jazz and Sonatina festivals. She began teaching private piano
and early childhood music classes in 1992 and continued to
teach in her spare time while working as an International Knowledge
Management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Realizing the need for an early childhood music program that
was truly educational, she designed a program to introduce
children ages 18 months to five years to music theory along
with singing and instrument play.
In 2001, Jennea decided to give up her career with the
investment firm and pursue her passion as a music teacher.
She began teaching music classes full-time and
founded Little Musicmaker which provides quality, early
childhood music education at child care facilities,
Montessori schools, her private studio and various
additional locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, Fort Worth Music Teachers Association,
National Guild of Piano Teachers and Piano Teachers Forum.
Her mission is to provide fun, memorable experiences which
will introduce children to the many benefits of
music-making. In addition, Jennea has been a guest
speaker at several state child care conventions discussing
the benefits of active music making versus passive
listening.

Caleb Potter
Outreach Coordinator
|
|
As
Jennea's brother, Caleb's musical upbringing was filled
with the same wonderful memories of music and laughter.
With a focus more on vocals and lyrical study, he has
always been passionate about both creating and performing
music. Caleb graduated from high school at the age
of 16 and followed a more structured, corporate path with
a focus on finance, investments, and venture capital
fundraising. In 2004, out of desire for broadened
experiences and patriotic duty, he joined the United
States Army as a combat medic. His travels included
a 1-year tour in Iraq, as well as humanitarian missions in
Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and various other
locations throughout Central and South America.
Upon completing his term of active service, and a year of
marketing/advertising training, Caleb has joined his
sister to expand Little Musicmaker to impact an
ever-growing number of children's lives. He
currently holds his EMT licensure, and now serves as an
Army Reservist in addition to his responsibilities with
Little Musicmaker.
